Acupuncture is a system of healing that originates in China and is based on ancient principles that are continually adapting to deal with todays modern day health issues.
Central to Acupuncture is the concept of Qi, the life-force or vital energy that flows throughout the body. In a healthy person the Qi flows smoothly around the body. However for a number of lifestyle and environmental reasons, including physical and emotional stress, injury, infection, poor diet and lack of exercise this Qi can be disturbed, depleted or blocked, which can result in symptoms of pain, illness, fatigue or generally feeling unwell with no obvious diagnosis.
Acupuncture involves the insertion of fine needles to specific points on the body to regulate the flow of Qi. A treatment may also include cupping, moxibustion, massage, diet and exercise advice.
Treatment is aimed at the root cause of your condition as well as your main symptoms, working on the body as a whole. This approach helps with resolving your health issue and enhancing your feeling of wellness in general. Acupuncture can also be used to maintain physical and emotional health.
